SOIL BOTHY
The Soil Bothy was originally used to store soil that was surplus to requirements after a burial had taken place, hence its name. Once the grave had settled and a dip appeared within the grave the stored soil was returned to the grave to bring it back level with the surrounding ground. At one stage of the buildings life a toilet block was installed but has been boarded up for a number of years. As part of the restoration works that are being carried out within the cemetery the bothy will be restored and a new toilet facility installed complying with Disabled Discrimination Regulations. This is to replace the block that has been demolished at the side of the Old Mortuary. Lighting has been included within the specification as it is some distance from the main chapels and to also improve security within the cemetery grounds. |
